Top Tips
When you apply to join us we want to see the real you. So here's a handy list of CV and interview tips to help you make the most of your opportunity to make the perfect impression.
Your CV
First impressions count and your CV is no exception. Here's what we're looking for:
- Recent, related experience. We always advise you to start with your most recent job and work backwards.
- A work history that does not show any gaps - any gaps should be accounted for.
- Short, concise information.
- A well laid out CV will always get more attention.
- Remember to check your spelling and grammar.
- Be honest in your application and make sure you back up your comments with evidence of experience wherever possible.
Before your interview
- Make sure you know a little bit about our business and the role you're applying for (our corporate and careers website - www.visionexpress.com - is a great place to start).
- Think of a few examples of the kind of work you've done before and how this could help you in the new role you're applying for.
- Come up with some questions that you'd like to ask us. It's as much about you getting to know us, as it is the other way round.
- Have a good night's sleep and look your best on the day. It's a great confidence booster.
- Give yourself plenty of time to get here. However you're travelling to us, plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.
During your interview
- Switch off your mobile phone and ask for a glass of water. You don't want a dry mouth or Auntie Doris calling you up half way through.
- Relax! Get comfortable and be yourself. It's the real you we want to see.
- Take a moment to answer each question. It's not a race. Think about your answer and don't be afraid to ask us to clarify anything that you don't understand.
